We went to RED BULL SPOT CHECK Lisbon

Skater Yuto Horigome during Red Bull Spot Check event in Martim Moniz, Lisbon in October 2025

On the 4th of October 2025, we had the chance to witness one of the coolest freeride skate events : Red Bull Spot Check Lisbon. The event lasted for a full day and some of the pro skaters of the Red Bull team were there : Yuto Horigome, Gustavo Ribeiro, Jamie Foy, Chloe Covell and Zion Wright. If you want info and insight about how it went, this article is for you!

The first stop, Portas do Sol

It began in the legendary spot of Portas do Sol, known for a perfect marble-like ground, its perfect ledges and its perfect view of the city. The space was quite small and skaters were not able to use the ledges – that are actually benches – and so Red Bull brings fake lookalike wooden ledges, so it makes the space even more hard to use. A lot of skaters still managed to do a large range of tricks on this ledge, but unfortunately the pros didn’t skate, but they were cheering everyone up.

The second stop, Ribeira das Naus

Then everyone moved close to the Tejo River that is 10 minutes away by walking, but the fuss made it quite a long ride although the mood was super nice : the pro skaters were on bikes, escorted by the police and skaters were all around, sometimes taking selfies along the way. The second stop was Ribeira das Naus, a spot that is quite hard to ride, as it’s really steep and slippery. The level on this spot was even better than the first one but again, no demos here with the pros!

The last and best stop, Martim Moniz

The crowd was already big near the stairs of Martim Moniz before the team showed up, but the Red Bull staff made the waiting cool with music and energetic beverage distribution. The skaters were also able to use all of the blue obstacles that Red Bull built for the occasion. The spot is famous for its marble-like ground (although in a really bad state, but a ground like this is so rare in Lisbon), its huge space and its 3 stairs set that is not high but quite long. Around 5pm, the pros arrived and started a demo right away – well, after Yuto and Jamie moved themselves the bench on the stairs. To know more about what happened from here, you can check the video and photos that we made bellow. Hope you enjoyed !
